Will my child be working with knives?

Children in Pre-K through 5th grade will not have access to knives.  All knife work will be done by the Chef Educator.

Students in Advanced Culinary Life Skills (Grades 6-12) will be learning proper knife skills in a supervised setting while wearing a protective cut glove.

Will my child be working with heat?

Children in Pre-K through 5th grade will not be working directly with any heart sources.  All cooking will be done by the Chef educator on an induction burner away from children's reach.

Students in Advanced Culinary Life Skills will be taught to cook on an induction burner and will be supervised by the Chef Educator.

Will my child be handling raw meat?

Children in Pre-K through 5th grade will never work with meat. Most, if not all recipes will be vegetarian. If there is a recipe with a meat protein ingredient, the instructor will handle the preparation.

In Advanced Culinary Like Skills, students will learn about food safety and knife skills.  They will be working with meat and fish once they understand how to safely handle the protein.

How do you handle food allergies?

We take food allergies very seriously. As part of our class sign-up, we ask for food allergy information. Students with food allergies are highlighted on our class roster with their food allergies listed. We handle these on an individual basis. We also do not use any nuts in any of our classes our of an abundance of caution.
